Firefighters have uncovered human remains after extinguishing a blaze in bushland on the NSW mid-north coast early today.

Firefighters have uncovered human remains after extinguishing a blaze in bushland on the NSW mid-north coast this morning.
A Rural Fire Service crew made the discovery about 6am on Yarratt Rd after they put out the small fire in the Yarratt State Forest near Taree, police said.
The remains are believed to be those of an adult and a crime scene has been set up.
A post mortem examination will be conducted to confirm the body’s identity and a cause of death.
Police have cordoned off the area as they investigate the scene.
