Want to spark joy tidying the mess of others?
Swedish furniture giant IKEA has the job for you.
They are hiring 10 “Regional Städad (Tidy) Technicians” to help declutter homes and “create happiness”.
The move follows the rise of viral tidying sensation Marie Kondo, whose minimalist-inspired tidying system took the world by storm last year.
New mother Jessamine Avila, 42, said that since she and husband Ryan Burman had son Carter 10 months ago, clutter had started to appear at her Dulwich Hill home.
“We promised that our house would not be invaded by kids stuff and that we wanted to maintain a nice home. Obviously we have tried to do that but slowly it is not becoming the case,” she said.
“The idea of having someone to come around and help and tidy would be awesome.
“It would help give people a bit more time in their day and they can focus on spending time on things that really matter.”
Ikea Australia people and culture manager Kent Eriksson told The Daily Telegraph this was a test and trial phase before possibly increasing the number of tidy technicians.
“Our vision is to create the best picture for everyday life. We know that people can have some frustrations in their homes and we have many talented people who can help with those,” he said.
“Since the advertisement was posted at 9am (on Thursday) we have already had 19 applicants.”
Applicants should want to take “decluttering credentials to the next level” and “understand how a tidy home can create happiness’’.
