New footage of police car moments before it gets stuck on railway tracks

Shocking CCTV has captured the moment a police car speeds through a residential street chasing a motorbike rider, moments before the patrol vehicle crashed and ended up on a railway track.

Pictures of the smashed up NSW Police highway patrol car were circulated on social media on Saturday afternoon, after passers-by saw the abandoned vehicle partially across train tracks in western Sydney.

Police said the officers were attempting to stop a motorcyclist when the patrol car crashed through a fence and onto the tracks between Rooty Hill and Mount Druitt, about 4.40pm.

Local man Tony Kroebel’s security cameras captured the wild chase between the cop car and the motorbike, taken at 4.35pm right before the crash.

“Looks like they were chasing a motorcycle,” he posted.

The vision shows the police car travelling at speed through a built up residential area.

“The cop is just as bad as the bike rider. Those speeds through built up areas is ridiculous. Should have called off the chase,” one person commented.

Another said: “At what point does safety come into play...this is too fast in a residential area on a Saturday afternoon”.

A spokesman for NSW Police said the officers suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Emergency service attended to provide medical help to the officers and remove the car from the train tracks. Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue.
