‘A bunch of bed-wetting losers’ Alan Jones back with a bang after he tears into Turnbull

After four months off air due to illness, Alan Jones wasted no time this morning tearing into the man and his party who sent Tony Abbott packing.

JUST IN case his listeners were wondering, illness has not mollified Alan Jones.

The shock jock tore into Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull on his first morning back on air after a four month absence.

Jones, 75, was in fine fighting form, back, he assured his fans, “to throw a spanner in the works of the lefties, the weak-kneed politicians and all the rest who rabbit on every day.”

Jones took exceptional umbrage to Mr Turnbull’s recent claims that a speech delivered by his predecessor, Tony Abbott, in February had been “a co-ordinated attempt to undermine the government” and was to blame for recent record low Newspolls.

“The Turnbull Government is an ideological swamp, an ideological vacuum,” Jones said, referring to this morning’s poll showing Labor now leading the government 55-45 on a two-party preferred basis.

“No point becoming Prime Minister if you don’t know what to do when you get there.”

Finance Minister Mathias Cormann and former Liberal member for Lindsay, Fiona Scott, also copped a spray, due to their public criticism of Mr Abbott’s behaviour since losing power.

Launching a collection of Quadrant essays with various authors expressing disillusionment over where the Liberal Party was heading, Mr Abbott described Mr Turnbull’s cabinet as “Labor lite” and warned that “unless we heed the message from people who think that we have let them down, a book like this can become the thinking persons’ justification for voting One Nation.”

Jones was in full agreement.

“The maths alone tell us, that the Abbott critics are not going to save the Liberal Party or its values,” he said.

“They’re heading in the wrong direction.

“I said when Abbott was sacked it would end in tears.

“Well the way we’re going and if you look at the polls, there won’t be enough handkerchiefs to go around.”

After four operations in as many months, Jones took the opportunity to thank 2GB’s part-owner John Singleton, executive chairman Russell Tate and staff for holding the fort, but begged listeners to lay off on the correspondence.

“To those of you who have written very kindly to say ‘glad you’re back and fully recovered’, I have to assure you I’m not fully recovered. It will be a while before I’m 100 per cent and indeed I’m still brandishing the walking stick because I have a problem with my left quad.”

Jones admitted while he wouldn’t be running the Boston Marathon, he was nevertheless fit for work and would be back on television tomorrow night for his Jones + Co show with Mark Latham on Sky News.

“For this job all you need is a tongue and a brain and I hope those are both intact, although I have no doubt they will be put to the test in the weeks ahead.”
