A TIP truck dumped 25 bags of asbestos, weighing up to four tonnes, on Sydney family’s driveway late last night.

Eighteen-year-old Armanii Haddad, her 14-year-old brother Tony and 12-year-old sister Natarsha ran outside as the truck pulled away from the Oatlands home, before touching and breathing in the deadly building material.

Within minutes the truck, with its reversing alarm disabled, had backed up to the driveway and dropped the bags, which split on impact.

“All we saw was a big truck dump a whole lot of God knows what, then me and my younger sister ran out and we were touching it and breathing it in,” Armanii said.

Specialist Fire and Rescue NSW HAZMAT crews were needed to contain the asbestos.

Emergency services removed the material this morning.
