A body found partially buried in a Sydney backyard is believed to be that of a missing man.
Three people have been arrested and are assisting police after the gruesome discovery was made at Glenorie, in the city’s northwest, just after 11am.
A woman and two men were taken into custody a short distance from where the body was found, partially wrapped in a tarpaulin, in Gleness Place.
All three people are currently being interviewed at Castle Hill police station.
It is understood the body is that of a 39-year-old man, who is from the Penrith area who was reported missing by his family on Thursday night.
Detective Superintendent Naomi Moore said police discovered the body when they went to the address in Glenorie as part of the missing person investigation.
“We had information from the family,” Detective-Supt Moore said when asked what led officers to that house.
She said it was “way too early” to say whether the woman and two men in custody would be charged in connection with the discovery of the body.
The road remains closed while specialist forensic police and Homicide squad officers remain carry out their investigation.
“Never seen so many cops in my life,” one local posted on Facebook.
