MAKEUP artists and hair stylists in the city and eastern suburbs are already fully booked ahead of The Everest race day, with salons reporting unprecedented demand.
The richest race in Sydney’s history has led some salons to be booked up to two months in advance, with women now hunting for appointments well outside their home suburbs to secure a touch up on the morning of the race.
Salons contacted by The Daily Telegraph including Mecca Maxima, Sebastian Salon at the Intercontinental Hotel, TONI & GUY and makeup counters Mac and Napoleon Perdis were at or close to capacity on the day.
Sebastian Rees, stylist at Sebastian Salon at Sydney’s Intercontinental Hotel, said he’d never seen an October so busy, with 50 women booked on race morning. “It’s been crazy,” he said.
GHD creative director Richard Kavanagh who oversaw GHD’s Infinite Styling event at the Opera House yesterday said women are more informed about hair trends than ever before.
“Our hair is the one accessory that you never ditch so it’s no surprise that girls want to invest in having their hair done professionally for a special event,” Kavanagh said.
“This spring racing this season, juxtaposition is key, if you have a simple dress, glam up your hair, if you have an amazing dress on, go with casual, cool girl hair.”
Kavanagh was in Sydney to take part in an international, never seen before, continuous 12-hour event with the global market leader in hair styling products, which explored the possibilities of infinite styling without damaging hair.
