A SYDNEY man has been found guilty of the murder of luxury car dealer Bob Ljubic.

A Supreme Court jury today ruled that Jason Clive McCall, 34, of Currans Hill, hurled Mr Ljubic to his death from a cliff at the Gap in Sydney's East.

The family man's body was recovered at Kurnell five days after his disappearance in March 2005.

In convicting McCall, the jury accepted the Crown's case that he abducted Mr Ljubic in a bid to extort cash.

McCall and another man codenamed X plotted to kidnap Mr Ljubic, 44, to extort money and drugs.

X, who was the key witness during the three-week trial, told the court there had never been an intention to hurt Mr Ljubic and McCall had pushed him off a cliff at The Gap in Sydney's east in a snap of rage.

McCall's barrister urged the jury to approach X's evidence with caution, saying his immunity from prosecution made him a questionable witness.

But the jury accepted that McCall, 34, had been party to a joint criminal enterprise which had resulted in Mr Ljubic's death, and convicted him of murder.

"You think you've solved it, you f ing maggots," he yelled at detectives as he was led down to the cells.

Justice Graham Barr will hear submissions on sentence on Friday, September 21.
