The South Grafton Rebels find themselves on the bottom of the Tooheys New Group 2 rugby league first grade table after suffering back-to-back defeats to start the 2021 season.
After going down 38-10 in the season opener against Macksville Sea Eagles, the Rebels played their first home game of the season in front of a healthy McKittrick Park crowd.
Unfortunately for the home supporters they couldn’t get their team over the line when they went down 32-26 in a game that was called off with ten minutes left on the clock after a player suffered a serious leg injury and had to leave the field via ambulance.
The assignment for the Rebels doesn’t get any easier when they head south to take on 2019 grand finalists Coffs Harbour Comets in Coffs Harbour on Saturday.
Meanwhile the Grafton Ghosts find themselves at the top of the table two rounds into the season after a 28-12 win over Bellingen-Dorrigo and a 30-10 win against Coffs Harbour.
This Saturday the Ghosts will play the only other undefeated team in the Group 2 first grade competition, Macksville Sea Eagles.
