GRAFTON product Verity Simmons has jumped straight into her duties as a role model with new club Queensland Firebirds.
Simmons, who signed with the Firebirds during the off season, joined fellow recruit Stephanie Puopolo to host a free netball clinic for 80 up-and-coming netballers on the Gold Coast yesterday.
"I love getting out to the regions and netball on the Gold Coast is one place we are excited to visit and find some future Firebirds," Simmons said.
It was Simmons' second consecutive clinic after putting another 80 enthusiastic, young netballers through their paces in Townsville earlier this month.
The clinics are part of a month-long blitz as part of the Firebirds' Community Development Program.
"The clinics are a great way to encourage young girls to be involved in sport and to get active. They are also a positive way to promote women in sport," Simmons said.
The 22-year-old Simmons has been signed by the Firebirds after two successful seasons with ANZ Netball Championship rivals West Coast Fever.
