Hewitt happy with performance going into fourth round

TWO-time grand slam winner Lleyton Hewitt would love nothing better than to take on world No.1 Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals of the US Open.

To do that, the Aussie veteran will have to beat Russian Mikhail Youzhny in tonight's fourth round at Flushing Meadows.

After beating another Russian, world No.102 Evgeny Donsky, 6-3 7-6 3-6 6-1 yesterday, Hewitt (pictured) said he had been happy with his form.

"I served a lot better today - hit my spots well. Even my second serve, whenever I was under pressure I didn't give him too many chances to run around and take second cuts on my second serve, which was positive," Hewitt, who won the tournament in 2001, said.

Djokovic easily progressed to the fourth round by beating Portugal's Joao Sousa 6-0 6-2, while Andy Murray (seeded 3), Tomas Berdych (seeded 5) and Stanislas Warwinka (seeded 9), also won through.

The Aussie doubles combination of Ash Barty and Casey Dellacqua beat American Liezel Huber and Spain's Nuria Llagostera Vives 6-4 6-3 to earn a spot in the quarter-finals.
