GRAFTON Ghosts put in a concerted effort against a grubby Nambucca Heads Roosters in what was one of the most ill-disciplined games of the season.

In a match that would have been better played in a boxing ring the Ghosts got the better of the second half scoring 16 quick-fire points in first 10 minutes after the break.

Roosters clipped by Ghosts

The Ghosts kept their opponents scoreless for the entire first half and with tensions rising on the field it did not take long before the Roosters lost their cool.

Roosters' fullback Jac Sheppard and centre Jay Melrose were the first to the bin after continually working the opposition player over on the ground.

Then a malicious forearm to a prone Mitch Gorman saw Nambucca's halfback Edgar Cowell sent from the field to play no more part.

A sideline fight erupted after the halfback left the field, with several supporters coming together in the heated moment.

With their opposition a man down the Ghosts kicked into gear and laid on two tries before the half. The second coming on the back of a spectacular spiral ball from second rower Khan Williams which travelled 20 metres.

Coming back after the half time break football took control of the brutal game, with the Ghosts using their pace to run around the struggling Nambucca side with twelve men.

A hat trick to winger Mitch Gorman and a double to his fellow flanker Joel Moss sealed the game for the Ghosts who never looked like being beaten on the scoreboard.

A consolation try to Nambucca five-eighth Jai Waddy was not enough to stem the flow of Ghosts points in the second half.

In other Group 2 action the table topping South Grafton Rebels were defeated by a dominant Coffs Harbour Comets at Geoff King Motors Oval 52-18.
