Tucabia Copmanhurst celebrated victory in GDSC Premier League while Coutts Crossing won both 2nd and 3rd grade in the Clarence River Cricket Association grand finals played in Grafton on the weekend.

Minor premiers Brothers Clocktower Hotel won the toss in the Premier League decider at Ellem Oval and elected to bat.

However, Ulmarra Hotel Tucabia Copmanhurst captain Brad Chard dismissed Kallen Lawrence (0) in the first over and Brothers never fully recovered, losing wickets at regular intervals to be all out for 102 off 53.1 overs.

Eli Fahey (18 off 45) was the top scorer for Brothers while Chard finished with 5 for 38 off 16.1 overs and Matt Pigg took 2 for 19 off 16.

Tucabia also lost early wickets, but a 71-run 5th wicket partnership between Rohan Hackett (39) and Bob McKenzie (53) ensured the first innings victory, then an incredible 65-run 10th wicket stand between Chard (47*) and Taine Riley (20) buried any hopes of an outright result for Brothers, who conceded defeat when Tucabia was finally all out for 210 off 97.2 overs.

Opener Jaye Yardy (39) top scored for Tucabia, but the side was never able to get on top of the bowling led by Hayden Woods (2 for 17 off 8) and Lewis Chevalley (1 for 19 off 8) and was restricted to 8 for 123 off its 40 overs.

At one stage Coutts were 5 for 58 in reply, but a 41-run 6th wicket partnership between Aaron Webb (34* off 54) and Patrick Phillips turned the match back in Coutts’ favour, and Webb and Andrew White (5* off 21) saw the side home with three wickets and 20 balls to spare.

Jesse Powell (2 for 21 off 8), Layton Pigg (2 for 13 off 8) and Joel Chevalley (2 for 31 off 8) were the pick of the bowlers for Tucabia.

But Coutts were able to peg the scoring back through Allan Green (1 for 17 off 5) and Craig Pereira (0 for 11 off 5) before some late hitting from Troy McLaren (36* off 15) saw Brothers post 5 for 144 off 30 overs.

But captain Scott Chard (35ret off 36) and Lance Chevalley (40ret off 40) put the innings back on track before Pereira (19* off 22) hit the winning runs with three wickets in hand and 21 balls to spare.
