The winner of the Clarence Valley’s cutest baby for 2023 has been announced and, in a rather sweet twist of fate this little one has continued in his father’s footsteps.
Spencer Rhys Walters, 11-months-old, mustered 16 per cent of the vote. His dad Rhys Walters nabbed the title of Grafton’s cutest back when he was a baby.
Spencer faced some challenges when it was time for him to enter the world.
“He was born at Grafton Base Hospital three weeks early,” mum Cassidy Rose said.
“His heart rate dropped extremely low and for lengthy amounts of time.
“Spencer went in to respiratory distress and we had to bring him back — thank you to the doctors and nurses.”
Now Spencer is happy and healthy, living with his two sisters, Ella and Leila, in Grafton.
“Spencer is now a gorgeous, cheeky and ‘into everything’ bub, with the bluest eyes you’ve ever seen,” Ms Rose said.
She described her baby boy as adventurous and “a crazy baby who loves to explore”.
Ms Rose said prior to the vote it would be “lovely to win and make it family tradition as Spencer’s dad back in the day also won Grafton’s cutest baby contest”.
So, it seems a new family tradition is all but guaranteed.
