Shark sighting closes popular Yamba beach

According to reports the 2m shark was spotted on Saturday, with a number of other recent sightings along the North Coast.

A Yamba beach was closed on Saturday following the sighting of a shark by NSW Surf Lifesaving.

According to website dorsalwatch.com, the beach was closed at around 2.30pm when a shark of an undetermined type was spotted.

The beach was closed temporarily while the shark, which was believed to be 2m in length, passed by.

It is one of a number of recent sightings along the North Coast, with a 3m tiger shark spotted off Main Beach in Byron Bay on Monday morning, as well as a bull shark near Forster.

A member of the public also reported seeing a shark while driving across Missingham Bridge in Ballina around 7.30am.

The app warns people to be #Sharksmart in the water, and report any sightings to authorities.
