FEDERAL Treasurer Wayne Swan needs your help with his budget, sort of.

Mr Swan has invited all Australians, businesses and community groups to send their ideas and priorities for the 2013-14 budget.

But he said the government would be maintaining its focus on savings, to help fund its many new reform promises.

A statement his office sent out calling for submissions, however, failed to mention the promised $1.1 billion budget surplus.

Mr Swan has asked for all submissions to be sent to the Treasury Department by January 31, 2013.

All submissions need to be able to offset any new initiatives with equivalent budget cuts.

Send them to: Budget Policy Division, Department of the Treasury, Langton Crescent, Parkes ACT, 2600.
