A Clarence Valley woman injured six people on Christmas Eve in a shocking spree of reckless and “predatory” driving offences.

On Thursday, Yamba woman Rebecca Hewitson, 46, fronted Maclean Local Court where she entered guilty pleas to a string of driving offences.

The 46-year-old pleaded guilty to five counts of driving furiously and causing bodily harm as well as two counts of driving with an expired licence.

She also pleaded guilty to driving while an illicit drug was present in her blood and predatory driving.

According to documents tendered to court, Hewitson came in to contact with her first victim at Maclean between 6:30am and 6:40am on December 24.

Hewitson “caused an impact involving another vehicle and did through the course of that conduct intent to cause (the victim) … in that other vehicle actual bodily harm,” court documents state.

The Yamba woman’s five counts of driving furiously and causing bodily harm occurred only a few hours later.

Her driving injured five separate people between 9am and 9:30am at Tabbimobile, the court heard.

She also had cannabis in her blood system at the time of the offences.

Defence lawyer Katarina Duncan told the court her client had been recently released from hospital.

Ms Duncan said she would be putting forward an application to have the charges considered in light of her client’s mental health.

Hewitson will next appear before Maclean Local Court on June 29.
