A young Grafton man accused of stabbing a woman and punching her in the face during a terrifying armed robbery has faced court pleading guilty to a brazen breach of bail.

South Grafton man Casey Rainbow breached the conditions less than two weeks after he was granted conditional bail on charges of reckless wounding in company, aggravated robbery and possessing ammunition without a permit.

While Rainbow has pleaded guilty to breaching bail, he has not entered pleas to the more serious charges.

Police allege the 19-year-old stabbed the woman in the back of her right shoulder and hit her during a robbery at South Grafton alongside an unidentified man between 2-3am on March 12.

Rainbow has also been charged with possessing a shotgun shell and a .22 calibre bullet at South Grafton on April 4.

The court heard Rainbow breached the strict bail by “shooting pool” in Grafton.

Defence lawyer Christopher Huxley said Rainbow acknowledged his actions breached bail.

“He understands the precarious situation that he is in,” Mr Huxley told the court.

“(Rainbow’s) explanation was ‘I f--ked up’.”

Mr Huxley conceded Rainbow could end up behind bars for a long time should charges ultimately proceed to sentence.

He told the court Rainbow would be “especially vulnerable” as a young indigenous man in custody.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Fairleigh opposed a second shot at bail for Rainbow.

She said the charges were “extremely serious” and Rainbow had a history of not complying with court orders.

She also raised concerns with a proposed new bail condition which would see Rainbow living with his mother in South Grafton, where the alleged offending occurred.

Magistrate Juliana Crofts said Rainbow “flagrantly breached” conditions after he was warned about the strict nature of bail.

But she agreed the teen who would be vulnerable in custody “f--ked up“ and “realised that”.

“I want to be very clear … if you breach your bail again it would be highly unlikely the court would grant you bail,” she said.

“You’ve been warned (about) what will happen.”

Rainbow cannot leave his new South Grafton address between 7pm-7am and must be with his mother or uncle when he is able to leave.

The case is due back in the court on June 6.
