THE judicial side of Grafton Court House could be out of action until Friday as repairs to a storm-damaged roof take place over the next few days.

A gust of wind during last Wednesday's hailstorm lifted several tiles off the roof of the heritage-listed building.

Repairs were due to begin yesterday afternoon and cases listed for Grafton have been moved to Maclean Court for the week.

Court registrar Kirsty Netzler said because it was impossible to walk on the roof, machinery will have to be used to get workers onto the roof and an area near the court was cordoned off.

"It's going to be too noisy for court to take place in the building," she said.

Ms Netzler said the damage to the roof had not allowed water into the building and the registry would continue to function as normal through the repairs.
