IGA Metcash is moving a step closer to building Maclean's new supermarket in Centenary Dr.
Tomorrow Metcash representatives will meet with Clarence Valley Council to lodge plans for the new supermarket.
Metcash CEO Silvestro Morabito said the company was "very excited" to be lodging plans for the new 2000sq m full-line Supa IGA supermarket.
Mr Morabito said subject to the plans being approved and the land re-zoning getting through council, construction of the supermarket should begin in October and be completed within a year.
Clarence Valley mayor Richie Williamson said it was pleasing to see things moving along, but stressed everything was subject to due process.
"The subdivision and re-zoning application is progressing," he said.
"(But) the DA will be subject to the normal checks and balances with regards to development consent and we'll be ensuring that process moves along in the appropriate fashion."
Clarence Valley Council approved the supermarket in February 2012 after much debate.
