BUSINESS groups say the federal government cannot afford another year of "reform gridlock", while local governments want $40 million in local disaster relief funding immediately and for no changes to disaster relief funding ratios in federal treasurer Joe Hockey's second budget next Tuesday.

Queensland Resources Council chief executive Michael Roche said miners will watch Joe Hockey's budget next week with interest because much of it will shape the budget of Queensland's new Labor Government.
Queensland's major infrastructure group asked for an immediate tax deduction of $6000 for capital equipment expenditure, and for larger businesses access to accelerated depreciation for investments undertaken in the next few years.
Several groups asked for funding to complete Toowoomba's Second Range Crossing project and a commitment to Brisbane's underground rail project. Both Labor's Cross River Rail and the LNP's Bus and Train tunnel have previously been rejected.
The Queensland Government is demanding the state not lose $556 million in GST revenue in the next financial year, Treasurer Curtis Pitt said.
