Person trapped, helicopter en route to Yamba crash

Authorities are requesting that motorists heading to the Lower Clarence avoid the area or to expect delays as a result of the incident.

Coffs/Clarence Police have confirmed that one person is trapped inside their vehicle after colliding with a power pole along Yamba Road, near Palmers Island this afternoon.

The incident occurred just after 2.30pm on Wednesday with only one lane of traffic open to motorists.

Multiple emergency services agencies are on scene and are currently awaiting a helicopter to arrive from the Gold Coast before extricating the person from the vehicle.

It’s not known the extent of the person’s injuries at this stage.

Essential Energy has reported that 230 customers are now without power following the collision.
