Loving Life FM103.1 station manager Damian Fisher will host a 12-hour live broadcast this Thursday in order to help make a miracle happen.
Mr Fisher will join multiple other Christian radio station hosts across Australia taking part in CBM’s Miracles Day with the goal of giving sight to 50,000 people currently blind from cataracts.
“Miracles Day is an important event on Loving Life‘s fundraising calendar, and it would be great for our listeners to give the gift of sight to those who are less fortunate than us,” Mr Fisher said.
“During those 12 hours, there will be interviews with some of the patients who have been helped by Miracles Day, some of the doctors who have performed these miracle operations and also staff who are currently in the field or who have travelled to these parts of the world.”
CEO of CBM Australia Jane Edge said that there is a small window of time where children with cataracts can be operated on to avoid permanent loss of vision.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has had a catastrophic impact on people with disabilities living in poverty and is causing delays for many people with compromised vision needing surgery,” she said.
“Because the cost of the surgery is out of reach for so many, CBM and radio stations are partnering to raise the funds needed to provide people the sight-saving surgery they need.”
Mr Fisher said he hopes the Clarence Valley community can get on board with the fundraising event.
“Imagine if you were to go without buying one coffee per day for six days; the money you save could actually give sight to a child for the very first time,” he said.
Tune into Loving Life FM103.1 from 5am to 5pm on Thursday, August 19 to be part of the event.
