Tributes have begun to flow for Clarence Valley teenager Riley Croft who tragically died this week.

In August 2020, 15-year-old Riley was diagnosed with Ewing‘s Sarcoma, a rare type of childhood cancer. Riley underwent aggressive chemotherapy to try and shrink the tumour. Sadly, Riley succumbed to the disease on Wednesday.

The devastating news was shared on social media and a GoFundMe page set up to assist the Croft family earlier this year.

“Sadly, our beautiful Riley lost his fight with Ewing‘s Sarcoma last night,” mum Danniella Croft posted.

“He was surround by all his family till the end!! We love him so much! 31/10/2005 - 14/04/2021.”

A trivia night to raise further funds for Riley’s cancer battle planned for this Saturday at the Grafton District Services Club will go ahead.

“We decided that we would continue with it and make whatever funds are raised, will be provided to the family on Monday with the hope that it can assist them during this difficult time,” GDSC general manager Arthur Lysaght said.

Since learning of the diagnosis in August last year, Riley’s parents Jamie and Daniella have been away from home and taken time off work to be with their son, which has resulted in compounding financial pressures.

“Jamie’s fellow workmates have been incredible and supported them as best they can, but there has obviously been a lot of expense being away from home so we want to continue to help this family.”

The Helping Hands Trivia Night to support Riley’s family will start at 6:30pm on April 17 at the Grafton District Services Club, $200 per team of eight.

Everyone is welcome and are invited to wear a footy jumper where possible.
