A popular beachside venue in the Clarence Valley has been temporarily shut down after police discovered its staff were breaching public health orders.
Coffs-Clarence Police chief inspector Joanne Reid confirmed that officers attended the Brooms Head Snak Shak on Monday, October 18, following reports the owners were breaching current Covid rules.
“None of the staff were vaccinated,” Insp Reid said.
“Police provided advice in relation to vaccination requirements and the owner agreed to close the business in the interim until those requirements were met.”
Staff alerted customers to the temporary closure through their social media page, but also shared their frustration with the current Covid-19 restrictions with regard to vaccination status.
“Just a notice to all - the Snak Shak received a shutdown notice from the police today because we choose not to force vaccination onto the staff,” a spokesperson from the takeaway shop wrote.
“The Prime Minister of this country states vaccination is not compulsory but allows his Premiers to run the country shutting down small businesses or forcing people between a rock n a hard place. Freedom, classless, equality, unrestricted n uncensored, lifestyle or opinions clearly not allowed in this country!”
The post drew a large amount of support from customers.
The Daily Examiner reached out to the owners of the Snak Shak but they did not wish to comment.
