BONES located during today's search for missing toddler William Tyrrell have been confirmed as belonging to an animal.

Police have today been searching for evidence of the missing three-year-old in the vicinity of Houston Mitchell Drive and Long Point Trail at Bonny Hills, New South Wales after a public tip-off.

Bones discovered at the site have been examined by a pathologist, who has concluded they are not human.

Anyone with information about William's disappearance is urged to come forward via Crime Stoppers. 

4.20 PM:

POLICE have found a number of bones after less than a day searching in dense bushland for clues into the disappearance of three-year-old William Tyrrell.   

Fairfax is reporting the forensic officers found the bones on Monday afternoon.  

Police cannot say whether the bones are from human or animal remains.  

A police spokesman has told the media that the determination of the bones could take some time.   

"As with any search like this in bushland it is not unusual to find the remains of numerous animals," a NSW police spokesman said.

William Tyrell disappeared from his grandmother's backyard five months ago. 

Police said the public had provided many leads in relation to the three-year-old's disappearance but they needed more specific leads.

9.30 AM: ABOUT 30 police will join a fresh search for missing three-year-old William Tyrrell but police have stressed today it is unlikely to be the last.

Det Supt Michael Willing downplayed suggestions police had any specific information that would lead them to the discovery of the little boy's body.

"It is only general information we have received,'' Supt Willing said.

He said police were searching for 'evidence' in the case.

Police will conduct a line search of several kilometres of bushland which is expected to take a number of days.

Supt Willing said police still believed it was most likely that the boy dressed in a spiderman outfit was taken after he disappeared at Kendall on the mid north coast of NSW five months ago.

The area being searched at Bonny Hills is about 10kms north.

In January, police searched the home of a tradesman at Bonny Hills.

The property's septic tank was drained and police also seized a number of items from the home.

Supt Willing was reluctant to comment on specific suspects or give more information about the nature of the search. "I'm not going to talk about specific people.''

He said the public had provided many leads in relation to the three-year-old's disappearance but they needed more specific leads.

"As is the case with these matters, someone knows something.''

He said the support from the Kendall community had been fantastic.

"When a three-year-old boy vanishes... it's a terrible situation for everyone.''

He said police had been in daily contact with the boy's 'distraught' family.

Supt. Willing said police were not conducting interstate searches for William.

William Tyrell was last seen in the Mid North Coast town of Kendall on September 12.

Police search  for body of Spiderman boy William Tyrrell

POLICE will search dense bushland for three-year-old William Tyrrell who disappeared from his grandmother's backyard five months ago.

The boy, who was wearing a spiderman outfit, had been playing with his sister when he disappeared at Kendall on the mid north coast of NSW.

New South Wales police said Strike Force Rosann has been established to investigate the toddler's disappearance, with the investigation now being led by the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad.

It is understood police are looking for the body of the little boy.

Monday's search will be conducted near Houston Mitchell Drive and Long Point Road at Bonny Hills, however police are not prepared to divulge the exact location.

The search is being co-ordinated by the Homicide Squad with assistance from the Public Order Riot Squad, Operational Support Group, Dog Unit and Water Police.

The search is the result of information received from the public and inquiries made by the Strike Force Detectives.

Police are looking for any evidence relating to the disappearance of three-year-old William Tyrrell.
