For Bob and Judith Little, the Maclean Show has always been about their community, and showcasing everyone’s talents.
Supporters of the show over their 40 years in business with Spar Maclean, including sponsors of the fireworks display for the past 12, at last week’s event they were recognised for their contribution with life membership of the Maclean Show Society.
“I’m humbled, really humbled,” Mr Little said. “Maybe old too,” he laughed.
“But to think someone thinks of your contribution in that way is wonderful.”

Mr Little said it was the sense of community and appreciation that kept their support unwavering.
“It’s all about the locals, and I love the comments that we get at the end saying thanks for the fireworks, it really is lovely,” he said.
“It showcases and celebrates our community. Where else do you go where you see people all come together to do just that one thing?
“I love seeing the different people and their talents, whether it’s riding horses, poultry, needlework – have a look at some of the names there … it’s really interesting and there’s some beautiful things.”
Mrs Little is a world-renowned floral arranger. She still enters the local show, and told the crowd it was important for everyone to contribute to keep the sections going.
Not to be outdone, Mr Little said he had also been a successful exhibitor at the show, though perhaps not in your usual section.
“I entered a chicken. We got a chicken from the shop, put some floral wire and entered best barbecue chook,” he laughed.
“It won too!”
