A CABOOLTURE man who allegedly threw his shoes in protest at Immigration Minister Peter Dutton earlier this month has had his matter mentioned briefly in court.
David Anthony Sprigg, 33, faced Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday after being charged with public nuisance following an incident on June 14 in the city's southern suburbs.
Mr Dutton was about to speak at a refugee welcome ceremony at the Annerley Football Club when Mr Sprigg allegedly threw two shoes at him in protest over the government's refugee policies.
Mr Dutton dodged the first shoe, but caught the second and later dismissed the incident.
The act of throwing a shoe at someone is considered to be the ultimate form of insult and protest in Middle Eastern countries.
Magistrate John Costello adjourned the matter until July 27.
