‘Good size’: Mohammed Bou Merhi cashes in on viral fishing video

It was the nine-second video that propelled Western Sydney sparky Mohammed Bou Merhi to stardom. But it wasn’t anything he did on camera — but what he did behind the scenes. WATCH THE VIDEO AND RATE HIS VOICEOVER SKILLS

'Mr Not Bad' - Mohammad Bou Merhi's video goes viral

When Mohammad Bou Merhi declared the fish his mate had caught was “not bad” and a “good size”, he had no idea that nine-second video would make him an online star and change his life.

Bou Merhi only uploaded the video to his personal Snapchat account but it ended up on cult meme Instagram page Brown Cardigan with the caption: “When Western Sydney goes on the water, it’s the best shit ever #notbhed #goodsyze.”

The video has been viewed more than a million times and the 22-year-old Western Sydney electrician has now trademarked the two catchphrases, been recruited by multiple businesses to be the voice behind their advertisements and is hired for weddings and parties.

“I was speechless when it went viral to be honest,” Bou Merhi said.

“This is actually how I speak. I am not changing anything. I am a wog. I am the most ethnic person you will have ever met in your life.”

Bou Merhi is now working with Hungry Jacks, the AFL and online marketplace Spacenow, a marketplace where you can rent any space on demand.

He is also often asked to attend weddings and bucks parties to simply talk in his characteristic style.

“Everything has happened for me since the video went viral,” he said.

“I have done two ads with Spacenow. I have met a lot of people, I have a lot of crazy fans.

“A girl got a tattoo with ‘not bad’ and ‘good size’ on her stomach.

“I get asked to go to bucks parties and weddings, I get asked to DJ — just so they can hear my voice. Everyone loves it.

“I get stopped in the street all the time.”

While Liverpool-based Bou Merhi hasn’t quite yet secured enough gigs to retire from his day job as an electrician, his viral video will is at least helping pay the bills.

“I work as an electrician and I get people hiring me just for the fun of it,” he said.

“They don’t understand my call-out fee is $185. So if you call me out to hear my voice, I am still going to charge you.

“I can’t quit my job yet. My dad thinks he can retire on my success.

“But we will see how it goes. The ladies love it. I feel like a superstar. I feel like a porn star to be honest. I am just rocking it.”
