Girl hit by car in western Sydney

A FIVE-YEAR-OLD girl is in The Children’s Hospital at Westmead with critical head injuries after being hit by a car at Smithfield this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to The Horsley Drive at Smithfield just before 4pm, following reports that a child had been hit.
She has remained unconscious since she was struck by the vehicle.
NSW Ambulance paramedics, who had provided initial treatment, took her to meet the helicopter as it landed.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic provided treatment on location, intubating the girl and placing her in an induced coma.
The girl was taken to Westmead in a critical condition on Tuesday afternoon.
