Discounts on a degustation dinner at the famous Quay Restaurant and money off a tall ships harbour cruise are on the cards for the initial phase of the NSW government’s $500 million food and fun voucher program.
The Dine and Discover voucher pilot program will begin on Thursday in The Rocks and Broken Hill.
Not everyone will get their vouchers straight away; the targeted test of the program will give about 500 people four $25 discounts to use in venues across the two locations, before the scheme is expanded to the Sydney CBD, Northern Beaches and Bega Valley.
People chosen for the pilot in The Rocks and Broken Hill will from Thursday be able to initially spend their vouchers in almost 50 venues.
In The Rocks, patrons can get $25 off a pub meal at the historic Fortune of War Hotel, or use their $25 discount for fine dining at Quay Restaurant.
After dinner, those eligible for the trial can embark on a spooky street-walk with The Rocks Haunted Ghost Tours or a discounted harbour cruise with Sydney Tall Ships.
For eligible customers in Broken Hill, discounts will be available at the Golf and Country Club and the Sturt Club.
A range of cafes will also be in the first phase of the program, while entertainment vouchers could be spent looking to the stars with Broken Hill’s Outback Astronomy.
The Daily Telegraph can reveal the full list of venues participating in the trial after earlier reporting the first phase of the program would roll out this week.
The Morrison Bar and Oyster Room is one venue participating in the trial program.
It’s offering to double the value of the $25 vouchers giving patrons $50 off a meal.
Marketing manager Claudia Rosati earlier told the Telegraph the vouchers would “encourage more people to come out more often to support local venues”.
The Northern Beaches, Bega Valley and the Sydney CBD will be next in the voucher rollout, before the scheme is expanded state wide in March.
Here’s the NSW government’s full list of venues where the 500 people eligible for the pilot program will be able to spend their vouchers.
