Six teenage boys were involved in a high-speed police pursuit from Erskineville to Mascot in a stolen car, with four now been charged while two remain in hospital under police guard.

Four teenage boys have been charged following a police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle that ended in a crash in Mascot early Sunday morning.
At 12:35am on Sunday, officers attempted to stop a hatchback on Erskineville Rd, Erskineville after Checks revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen from Mascot either Friday night or Saturday morning.
Police would eventually enter into a chase after the driver failed to stop.
However, the chase came to a dramatic end when the vehicle crashed into a pole on Botany Rd in Mascot.
Six boys — five aged 14 and one aged 15 — allegedly ran away from the scene but were arrested shortly after with assistance from PolAir and officers.
The alleged driver, a 14-year-old boy, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and transported to Sydney Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.
The passengers were also taken to the same hospital.
A search of the vehicle uncovered a balaclava, gloves and several mobile phones, all of which have been seized for forensic examination.
Two 14-year-old passengers were charged on Sunday and remain before the court.
On Tuesday, the alleged driver and a 15-year-old passenger were released from hospital and taken into custody at Mascot Police Station.
The 14-year-old has been charged with police pursuit – not stop – driving recklessly, drive conveyance taken without consent of the owner and breach of bail.
The 15-year-old faces charges of being carried in conveyance without consent of owner and breach of bail.
Both boys were refused bail and are scheduled to appear before a children’s court today on Wednesday.
