One of the men was rushed to Liverpool Hospital with severe lower leg burns from the suspected electrocution and three others were treated by paramedics at the scene but didn’t require further treatment.

The fifth man could not be located. Power to the site was shut off and Fire and Rescue NSW crews worked with specialist paramedics to try and find the man on the building’s pitched roof.

NSW Ambulance inspector Andy Cullen said the man was dead when he was found a short time later.

“From the information I’ve been given, the patient was holding some kind of metal pole in his hand and he has turned and inadvertently touched some live wires,” Insp Cullen said.

The man’s distressed family arrived at the scene while crews were still on scene.

“It’s a distressing situation for family and for some of the responders alike,” Insp Cullen said.
