Four NSW men injured in roof falls in last 24 hours
Helicopter medics CareFlight are warning people undertaking home improvements during quarantine to take extra care following a “dramatic” increase in the number of roof falls across NSW with four men injured in just 24 hours.

Four people across NSW have fallen from roofs in the last 24 hours, leading to calls for novice renovators to take care when making home improvements during quarantine.
CareFlight responded to calls a 37-year-old man had plummeted eight metres from a roof in Oakhurst at 9:30 on Monday morning.
The man was helping a friend with roof repairs when he fell, and CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man’s fractured arm before he was taken by road to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
“We have noticed a dramatic increase in the number of CareFlight missions involving roof falls,” the duty doctor said.
“As more people are undertaking home projects that put them at risk, CareFlight urges individuals to take appropriate precautions when performing maintenance around the house.”
Yesterday three men fell from separate roofs across the state, including a man in his seventies.
The Avalon man sustained serious chest and pelvic injuries when he fell eight metres from his roof onto concrete.
CareFlight medics arrived at 3pm, and alongside NSW Police, NSW Ambulance and Fire and Rescue worked to remove the man from his home, which was on a steep hill.
He was flown to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.
Earlier that day CareFlight responded to two men in their 60s who both were seriously injured from roof falls.
After 10am CareFlight landed in Wahroonga and medics were escorted to the man’s home by an SES volunteer.
The man suffered a head injury from his fall and was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
When the chopper was leaving Westmead hospital, it was called to a near identical scene in Dundas Valley, where another man in his 60s had fallen.
When the CareFlight team was escorted to the man’s residence just before midday, he was being extracted from his garden, which was on a steep slope.
He had sustained head injuries and was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
