When former UFC champion Alexander Volkanovski is shouting a $20,000 bar tab at Sydney’s iconic beach, you know you’re in for some fun.
Bondi Beach came alive on Sunday as the former UFC featherweight world champion took his legendary fighting spirit from outside the octagon and into the heart of the community.
Volkanovski brought back the great Aussie bar shout, laying out a $20,000 tab for food and drinks at Ravesis alongside Aussie payments company Tyro Payments.
Revellers joined in on the fun, joining from the beach and the streets in a bid to win some luxurious prizes, including hotel rooms, merchandise, drinks and food vouchers.
It is the first official event for Volkanovski who was crowned the ‘Chief Tap Out Officer’ for Tyro’s Big Buyout campaign which is aimed at giving Aussie businesses a helping hand and giving back to the community amid increasing supply costs and cashflow concerns.
Volkanovski’s dedication to small businesses comes from his own entrepreneurial ventures, including Engage sportswear and Cooking with Volk, with the former world champion understanding the challenges and hard work needed for success.
“I’m incredibly fortunate to have had the support to get my businesses off the ground, and I know how tough it is for others,” Volkanovski said.
“I’m thrilled to be able to help Aussie businesses thanks to Tyro and give back to the public who have supported me throughout my career.
After enjoying the nice day in the sun, Volkanovski said it was “amazing to see the smiles on everyone’s faces”.
“This is what it’s all about - supporting the small business champions at the heart of our communities and having a blast while doing it.”
Along with Volkanovski leading the festivities, Peking Duk singer Lucy Washington was also in attendance to perform for the packed crowd.
