Former Penthouse pet and liberal candidate Robyn Preston has spoken out about her 1980s centrefold shoot, describing is as “part of my life’s journey”.
The long-serving Hills Shire councillor who yesterday won preselection for the safe Liberal seat of Hawkesbury was the subject of an eleventh-hour smear campaign leading into the vote with explicit photographs from the shoot being shopped around to media outlets on Friday night.
Ms Preston, 61, who also works in the electorate office of Treasurer Dominic Perrottet, was nonplussed.
“It was just a modelling assignment many years ago,” she said.
“It was a life experience, and part of my life’s journey.”
Ms Preston, who is from the conservative Right faction, easily beat her three rivals to win candidacy.
Ms Preston was backed by Mr Perrottet who triggered the preselection after deciding he wanted another seat closer to home.
Sources close to the Right faction former party official said her modelling assignment was “well known” within the party and would have little impact on her candidacy.
“She is a very popular councillor,” the source said.
