An outspoken Greens candidate has again landed in hot water after a video emerged of him hurling foul-mouthed abuse at Christian university students and saying their beliefs were “a joke”.

Self-confessed “mental health activist” Connor Parissis, 21, who is running in the inner southwest seat of Barton, also told Sydney University students they should “wank yourself off at home, you and your f … Jesus picture”.

The offensive comments were made during a rowdy confrontation in 2017, when 25 religious students holding a free food stall were mobbed by violent protesters on the grounds of Sydney University during the gay marriage debate.

YouTube footage posted last night to the We Love Marrickville community group shows Mr Parissis screaming at the students “Shut the f … up”, attracting condemnation by many residents, including Michael Mickey Tannous who labelled his actions “a disgrace”

“Go back to church,” Mr Parissis screams at his fellow university students. “You know who’s a joke? Your f … beliefs. Go wank yourself off at home, you and your f … Jesus picture.”

“I wish I could kick you in the f … face.”

The footage carried the watermark Verum Media, which is a Christian online current affairs platform.

The seat of Barton, which runs from Marrickville to Carlton in Sydney’s south, is held by the ALP’s Linda Burney, who benefited from Green preferences at the last election.

Mr Parissis has already been forced to apologise for anti-Christian comments during the campaign, which included him posting a vile image depicting Jesus in a sex act with the captions “i love easter traditions” during Greek Easter.

The Greens party officials said his earlier posts had been “foolish and harmful” but stood by their candidate, who said he had made those posts before being endorsed.

The Daily Telegraph also revealed Mr Parissis used a locked Twitter account called @TheElginMarbles to post offensive images as well as boast about stealing a plant from Kmart recently.

Mr Parissis had also posted a series of anti-Semitic images and openly promoted the use of illegal drugs in the past year.

He posted a picture on Facebook stating “who gives a flying fox about dead cops?” in December 2017 and in August last year posted “log off and grab a bat and head to ur (sic) local liberal office x”.

The Greens party has been contacted for comment, but last week Mr Parissis apologised for his earlier posts.

“The Daily Telegraph has highlighted several social media posts from before I was a Greens member that appear to condone violence,” he said.

He is running on a campaign of providing a “fresh” and “young” perspective to the seat.

“I am a twenty-one-year-old left-wing activist, student and writer who believes in a better world,” he says.

“Together we can ensure the current government takes climate change seriously, and force the government to put an end to refugee concentration camps.”
