First State Auctions: Fine jewellery, watches for sale at bargain prices

Millions of dollars worth of luxury goods including jewellery, Rolex watches and designer handbags are being snagged for bargain prices. Here’s how.

Diamond rings, Rolex watches and designer handbags are among a treasure trove of goodies up for sale at an online luxury auction - and anyone can snag themselves a glittery souvenir for a bargain price.

A yellow diamond ring worth up to $24,000, a $4000 Cartier love bracelet and $24,000 Rolex watch are some of the luxury trinkets up for grabs at First State Auctions’ liquidation sale.

The public auction, which began at 3pm on Monday, was set up to liquidate fine jewellery stock from Australia Brilliance Group, a luxury goods importer.

First State Auctions said in a statement online that the collection of over 400 pieces was expected to sell quickly.

“The auction catalogue has over 400 lots including submissions from other vendors and features a magnificent collection of fine jewellery, designer jewellery and bags, GIA certified diamonds and quality Swiss timepieces,” First State Auctions wrote.

“This is your perfect opportunity to snatch up a bargain.”

There are plenty of diamonds among the opulent offerings including a 3.01ct GIA-certified Fancy yellow diamond ring which is worth up to $24,000 but the selling price starts at $9000.

A $24,000 17.55ct diamond necklace is selling for $8000, a pair of 2ct GIA-certified diamond stud earrings worth about $15,000 have a starting bid of just $6000.

The most expensive diamond piece up for sale is a 3.35ct diamond solitaire ring, which has an auction estimate of $58,000 but bidding starts at just $22,000.

More than 400 pieces are up for sale.

And for bargain hunters, a 0.07ct pearl and diamond pendant is on sale for just $75, while a pair of 0.15ct diamond stud earrings is just $125.

A number of loose diamonds are also up for sale for just a few thousands dollars.

There are 36 luxury watches from the likes of Rolex, Omega, TAG Heuer, Cartier and Brietling, ranging in value from a $950 Raymond Weil Freelancer Mens Watch to a $26,000 Rolex Day-Date President Watch.

But every timepiece on sale can be snapped up for less than $10,000.

A Cartier love bracelet is being sold for $1600, as is a Tiffany & Co heart ring for $350.

Fifteen luxury bags from Gucci, Prada, Balenciaga, Dior, Louis Vuitton and Yves Saint Laurent are also available to enthusiasts for less than half of their asking price.

A number of other precious gems are available, but you will have to be quick - the auction ends on December 5 at 8pm.
