Firefighters have been kept busy tackling four separate blazes across Sydney overnight.
Emergency crews are currently battling flames that have engulfed a two-storey home in Emu Heights.
A local was startled awake shortly after 4.30am by a “popping noise” moments before discovering the massive blaze.
“I heard a strange popping noise and initially thought someone was breaking into a car. When I stepped onto the balcony, I heard screaming, so I called triple-0 and woke up my neighbour Wayne, who rushed to get everyone out of their houses,” the local said on a Facebook community page.
“From what I was told, everyone is okay.”
Meanwhile, a fire has also broken out at an old shopping village in Penrith.
Fire and Rescue Superintendent Adam Dewberry said police are investigating whether a molotov cocktail was involved in the incident.
“Our firefighters responded to reports of smoke issuing, there was a bit of smoke around the roof but no fire had taken hold so there was some fire activity,” he told 2GB’s Ben Fordham.
“Now this one is a concern for us as we believe this is looking like it was an attempt at arson.”
Crews also tackled a garage blaze in Jannali.
No injuries have been reported in any of the fires.
