Vivid Sydney 2024 fizzled out to a disappointing end for thousands of attendees, with the final drone show cancelled at the last minute on Saturday night due to weather.
Vivid Sydney cancelled the popular show just half an hour before it was due to begin, announcing the decision on social media.
The show will not be rescheduled because Saturday was the final night of the popular light festival.
The Vivid Drone show came under fire last week when a larger than expected crowd descended on Circular Quay, triggering mass crowds.
Vivid Sydney has urged attendees to be patient when exiting Saturday night’s cancelled show.
Many upset attendees took to X to express their disappointment with the decision, saying the weather was “fine.”
“What weather, I’m on a boat in the harbour and it’s the perfect weather except for being a bit chilly,” said one X user.
“Skies clear from 6-8, 20 mins of rain and it was clear again by 9.15. The crowds had already gathered, a bit of common sense and flexibility and you could have either flown the drones early or ten mins late … I’m sure the hundreds of families wouldn’t have minded an early start!,” said another.
