HE may be the most powerful person in the country, but even Malcolm Turnbull knows what it feels like to be left standing on the pavement when their partner vanishes to go shopping without saying where they went.
It’s an experience common to men and women in shopping malls every day. And yesterday the PM was left scratching his head and asking anyone who would listen: “Have you seen my wife?”
Ms Turnbull managed to evade a huge media throng and the PM’s Federal Police bodyguards to duck into a toy shop, where she bought a handmade cuddle bear and mini rolling pin for granddaughter Isla, 1, and a knitted dog for grandson Jack, 2.
“Oh, she’s in a toy store. See, Jack, Jack, the grandson — priorities,” Mr Turnbull joked when he was finally told where she had gone.
