Family’s photo album of drought devastation

THE Lee family have been smashed by dust storms after wild winds whipped up their barren paddocks at Packsaddle north of Broken Hill. These photos, taken since November, depict the devastation of drought in the state’s far west.

SHANE and Melissa Lee, both 47, and their daughter Lily, 5, have been smashed by dust storms after wild winds whipped up their barren paddocks at Packsaddle north of Broken Hill.

When Melissa’s not teaching Kindergarten lessons to Lily or feeding their 400 cattle and 800 sheep bales of hay, she’s captured the devastating drought through the lens of her camera.

The Lees are yet another family who would have locked the gate and walked off farm if it weren’t for the tireless efforts of Aussie Helpers volunteers, who’ve donated livestock feed and helped around the farm.
