THE heartbroken mother whose son was allegedly stabbed to death by his father has had to turn to the charity of friends to fund the funeral of the five-year-old.
Friends of the devastated nurse grieving the loss of her boy have raised $10,000 in just six days.
The heartbreaking note on a GoFundMe page reads: “Our dear friend and work mate has suffered the heartbreaking loss of her beautiful sweet 5-year-old son on 8th June 2018 under the most tragic circumstances.

“(She) now faces the challenge of funeral costs for her son. She has a supportive family however money is tight for her … (She) is unable to work for now, she needs time to grieve the devastating loss of (her son) and her family unit.”
The tragic case touched the heart of more than 206 donors who have pledged money to help bury the boy and support his mother, a dementia nurse.
She is now calling for an independent inquiry into the state’s mental health system, claiming health professionals repeatedly turned her 36-year-old husband away from health facilities. The man will return to court next month.
Her partner, who cannot be identified, allegedly stabbed his son as he slept at their Carlingford home two weeks ago.
During a police interview after his arrest the father allegedly told investigating officers he believed his son was “the devil”.
The day before the murder a mental health team was due to make a home visit — they never followed through.
Health authorities are refusing to comment on the claims he was denied treatment. The man has been remanded in custody and will return to court next month.
