A CLANDESTINE drug lab has been found after an explosion at a home in Sydney’s north west, police have confirmed.
The explosion in a residential sewerage pipe blew a manhole cover out of the ground forcing homes to be evacuated last night.
No one was inside the Stanhope Gradens house when firefighters found four drums containing 20kg of a liquid — some believed to be methylamphetamine. The drums have now been seized.
Police said they found items consistent with the manufacture of prohibited drugs.
A crime scene remains at the property as police continue the dismantling process.

Tremors from the explosion were felt up to two streets away.
“I heard a big bang, It was quite loud … I told my wife that it sounded like an explosion,” neighbour Andrew Grkovic said.
“I was standing still and felt the tremor.”
Police said no arrest had been made and the residents of a neighbouring home were evacuated for 30 minutes.
Another neighbour said he’d driven past the home numerous times and had never seen a soul come out.
“It’s a really peaceful area,” he said.
“I have driven past that house so many times and I’ve never seen anyone go in or out. It’s like it’s haunted.”
A third neighbour said he had never met his neighbours since he moved to the street 18 months earlier.
Several streets were closed as numerous firefighters and police units investigated.
