THE former partner of AWOL Parramatta Eels star Semi Radradra has laid a police complaint that he assaulted her “on a number of occasions”.
Police have taken out an interim apprehended violence order (AVO) on behalf of Perina Ting, after she made the allegations on Tuesday night.
The latest revelations come after the 24-year-old was a no-show at training today and was instead granted yet another extension on his Fiji holiday to deal with personal issues.
The Parramatta Eels released a statement this afternoon, saying the club is aware of the allegations.
“The Eels have informed the NRL Integrity Unit, and the club will continue to work with the relevant authorities,” the statement reads.
“As these allegations have been referred to police, the club will be making no further comment at this time on this particular matter.
“The Parramatta Eels have, through their welfare staff, been providing ongoing programs and services to Semi Radradra and his family, and will continue to offer support as required to all staff, players and family members at the club.”
The matter is listed in Parramatta Local Court on July 5 with the Australian winger, who is in his native Fiji, listed by his full name Semi Radradra Waqavatu.
NSW Police said in a statement Parramatta police were investigating the claims of domestic assault, which allegedly occurred over a seven month period from 2014 to 2015.
“On Tuesday, a 26-year-old woman attended Rosehill Police Station, and reported that her partner, a 24-year-old man, assaulted her on a number of occasions between September 2014 and April 2015, at their home in Parramatta. Parramatta officers are conducting an investigation into the incident,” the statement reads.
Radradra’s separation from Ms Ting is believed to be a factor in his trip to Fiji, which has created speculation he is set to walk out on the Eels to take up a large money offer with French rugby.
