More than 250 people were evacuated from a Zetland apartment building after a massive dumpster fire sent plumes of smoke across South Dowling St.
Dramatic footage obtained by The Daily Telegraph has revealed the terrifying scenes engulfing afternoon commuters on Thursday.
Fire and Rescue acting superintendent Peter Church said several large industrial bins somehow caught fire.
“Because of the proximity to the unit and the strong winds, some of the units were under threat,” he said.
The fire is now under control and there are no reports of injuries.
All residents from the units have been accounted for.
