In a shock twist, Athena Vibert, 52, entered three guilty pleas at Parramatta District Court over the tragic crash which killed Julie Bullock and her son Hudson, 7, while they were making their way to Wollondilly Anglican College where he was a student in March 2017.
Hudson’s twin sister Sienna suffered chest and head injuries in the tragic accident which occurred when Vibert’s silver Holden Astra crossed onto the wrong side of the motorway.
Vibert allegedly veered across the median strip on the Hume Motorway and collided head-on with the family.
The Balmoral woman was also severely injured and had to be taken to Liverpool Hospital were she remained for a number of days following the crash.
In July last year Vibert pleaded not guilty to two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death and one of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
But today she changed those pleas to guilty.
Mrs Bullock, who died at age 49, was an occupational therapist at the South West Kids’ Clinic at Casula.
She was farewelled at a funeral with her son following the accident which was attended by hundreds of mourners and loved ones.
The service heard how Julie and her husband Darren had gone through IVF seven times to have the twins, who had a “unique bond” with each other.
“Eventually Hudson and Sienna came into our lives six weeks premature,” Darren said.
“All of us were truly blessed.
“Jules was a natural mother, she always put her kids first, me second and her last.”
Hudson was remembered as a boy who had man friends and a kind and gentle heart.
“Huddy and Sisi had their own unique bond together. They were the best of friends, Hudson would play with barbies, Sienna would play with Lego and cars, it didn’t matter to them. They were buddies, they were inseparable,” Darren said in his eulogy.
Vibert is next listed for sentence on August 28.
