EX-CON Harriet Wran will work in a thrift store selling second-hand rags to raise cash to treat drug and alcohol-addicted youths after her ice-fuelled fall from grace.

The daughter of former NSW Premier Neville, who is recovering from an ice addiction and two years behind bars for her role in the robbery and murder of a drug dealer, is “keen to give something back” and will pitch in at a Ted Noffs Foundation Op Shop for disadvantaged youngsters.

Freedom appears to agree with the 28-year-old, who looks like a different person to the distressed woman who left Silverwater jail in September.

The former Weather Channel producer has told her mother Jill: “I’m strong enough now to help others”.

Matt Noffs, chief executive of the foundation, told The Saturday Telegraph: “Harriet has gone through a lot and is keen to give something back.

“We’re meeting in the next few weeks for coffee to discuss her role; she’ll be working in our op shops and volunteering at our youth centres.

“It’s early days for Harriet but Jill has told us she is getting stronger and feels ready to help.”

An ex-Sydney Church of England Grammar School pupil, Ms Wran has been quietly rebuilding her life living back at the alcohol-free family home in Woollahra with the support of her mother.

She has swapped drugs for daily gym visits and counselling after her mother ploughed $500,000 over the years on three separate stints in rehab to help turn her life around.

Fellow mother Jeanne Warne, who met Jill last year while both were visiting their daughters in jail, said: “Jill would visit twice a week, was very loyal and determined to help her daughter. She told me ‘what’s the answer? I’ve spent more than half a million dollars on (Harriet’s) rehab. I can’t, won’t, and will never give up on her’.”

Ms Wran was jailed for two years for her role in a drug-fuelled robbery that ended in the murder of ice-dealer Daniel McNulty, 48.

She was high on ice when she and then-boyfriend Michael Lee doorknocked McNulty’s Redfern housing commission apartment with Lloyd Edward Haines.

Once open, the trio burst through the door and robbed Mr McNulty of ice before Lee stabbed him to death.

Ms Wran was originally charged with murder but she later pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of being an accessory after the fact of murder and robbery in company.
