VETERAN broadcaster Ray Hadley’s son has resigned from the NSW Police Force since he was allegedly caught buying cocaine in a pub carpark.

Daniel Hadley, 28, had his matter briefly heard for the first time at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday morning.

He did not attend to face the charges of drug possession.

The former senior constable was allegedly caught in possession of 0.79g of cocaine inside a “white resealable bag” at the Australian Hotel and Brewery at Rouse Hill on August 3.

A member of NSW Police for seven years, Daniel’s future with the force was placed under review following the charge.

On Wednesday morning a police spokesman said he had resigned.

During the brief court mention, the police prosecutor said that the drugs had been tested.

The court heard a plea may be entered when the matter returns to court on October 3.

Hadley’s agent acting on his behalf Tim Marsh said his solicitor needed to get instructions.

Hadley had been under surveillance, suspected of illegal drug use, when police claim he was spotted buying drugs in the car park.

Not long after Hadley’s arrest, another man — Shaquillie Sione Vaisiqine Laf Moubayed - was arrested in a nearby car and charged with supply and possession of drugs.

Following his arrest, Ray Hadley said his son, whom he regards as his golden boy, had been admitted to a clinic.

“My son revealed to me he’s been having mental health ­issues,” he said.

“I feel particularly inadequate as a father and as a spokesman for R U OK Day when, in fact, my son is not OK.

“I’m not a medical professional and I won’t guess the nature of his illness but I will tell you it’s very serious and his family — me, his mum, sisters, aunts and uncles — are very concerned.
