Cyclist critical after head on crash with oncoming station wagon
A cyclist has suffered critical head injuries after colliding head on with a station wagon on a dangerous stretch of road near Bobbin Head in Sydney’s North. The man was intubated at the scene after landing on the car’s bonnet.

A cyclist has suffered critical head injuries after smashing into the windscreen of car on a dangerous stretch of road in Sydney’s North this morning.
The man, believed to be aged in his 40s, was cycling on Ku-Ring-Gai Chase Road at Mt Colah when his bike crashed head on with the blue station wagon near Bobbin Head just after 11am.

First responders on the scene said the cyclist landed on the bonnet of the car and suffered critical head injuries and suspected upper limb fractures on impact.
Members of the public helped the injured man and guided emergency crews to the area where he was treated by paramedics and intubated by a CareFlight helicopter medical team.

The cyclist was then taken by road to Royal North Shore Hospital under a police escort where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
The 18-year-old driver, who was displaying a green P-plate on the station wagon has undergone mandatory testing.
Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam vision to piece together what happened.
Ku-Ring-Gai Chase Rd is closed in both directions between Apple Tree Bay Rd and Mt Colah as the Crash Investigation Unit inspects the scene.
